Line6 POD X3 Pro

Line6 POD X3 Pro

Overview

POD X3 Pro is the powerful Dual Tone processor that comes fully loaded with amp and effect models for recording guitar, bass and vocals. In addition, a comprehensive array of inputs and outputs provide seamless integration into professional recording and performance rigs.

Like all members of the POD® X3 family, POD X3 Pro offers powerful Dual Tone modeling and routing options. Split your single-input guitar or bass signal through two different amp and effect chains simultaneously to create gorgeous new hybrids, or use its dual inputs to individually process two instruments—a microphone and a guitar, for example—at the same time.

Computer-based studios will want to exploit the USB 2.0 connectivity provided by POD X3 Pro for multi-channel recording as well as its S/PDIF or AES/EBU Stereo Digital Audio I/O for sending a direct digital signal to their DAWs. There’s also a digital Variax® connection that combines the acoustic and electric guitar models of your Variax with the amps, cabs, and effects of your POD X3 Pro. With the press of a footswitch, you’ll be playing virtually any combination of guitar, effect and amp.

For additional recording and processing flexibility, POD X3 Pro also includes plug-in functionality for integration with DAW recording applications.POD Farm

The comprehensive analog and digital inputs make POD X3 Pro perfect for a wide range of recording and performance scenarios. It features:

  • Dual 1/4" instrument inputs
  • Dual XLR microphone inputs (with phantom power, trim controls and low-cut filters)
  • Stereo 1/4" line inputs
  • S/PDIF digital input
  • AES/EBU digital input
  • Variax® Digital Interface (VDI)

POD X3 Pro also supports a comprehensive set of outputs for delivering processed bass, guitar and vocals to recording and performance rigs. Output choices include:

  • Stereo unbalanced 1/4" outputs
  • Stereo balanced XLR (mic or line level)
  • Multi-channel USB 2.0
  • S/PDIF digital output
  • AES/EBU digital output

Whether you’re recording in the studio or performing live, POD X3 Pro delivers the flexibility, connections and timeless tones that have made POD® the global standard for the discerning guitarist.

Recording

POD® X3 Pro isn’t simply the most full-featured amp and effect modeler in the world. It’s also a USB 2.0-based multi-channel digital recording interface, boasting top-tier specs like 24-bit studio-quality A/D and D/A converters, and 32-bit floating-point processing for sharp, clear audio imaging.

Over USB, you’ve got the ability to record any or all of 8 different signals running through the POD X3 Pro. The 1/4" and XLR inputs can be used to simultaneously record two individual instruments or microphones to separate tracks in your DAW, each in stereo and each with the option of recording the dry mono signal at the same time. (This is perfect for going back after you’ve recorded a track and adding a little magic with the included plug-in.) In addition to the dual stereo and mono options, there’s also a stereo blend being sent down to your DAW that matches exactly the blend coming out of the stereo 1/4" outs.

POD X3 Pro also includes S/PDIF and AES/EBU Stereo Digital Audio outputs for recording direct to pro applications like ProTools®, Logic® Pro and others. For additional recording and processing flexibility, POD X3 Pro includes plug-in functionality for integration with DAW recording applications. POD Farm

Amps and Cabs

Quite simply, there has never been an amp modeler with this much sheer firepower. The awesome amp arsenal in POD® X3 Pro boasts a whopping 78 guitar amps and 24 guitar cabinets, from boutique beauties to screaming monsters, along with 28 bass amp models and 22 bass cabinet models. With the new POD X3 Dual Tone processing, you can double your trouble by running through two amp rigs simultaneously, pairing any of the rumbling amp models in POD X3 Pro for new and adventurous hybrids. And of course, POD X3 Pro uses A.I.R.™ II microphone modeling to give you four mic options (with control of mic positioning and room bleed) for every single cab. Here’s what you get:

Effects

Try to picture this: a pedal board that’s 30-feet long, with close to a hundred of the all-time greatest stompboxes (in pristine condition!), along with an effects rack that houses top-notch outboard compressors, reverbs, EQs and vintage preamps. And imagine that you could play and record through this über-board with no noise at all, only one power supply and only a couple of knobs and switches to control the entire thing.

That’s what you get with POD® X3 Pro: 98 stompbox and studio effect models, the most mammoth collection of tones and timbres ever assembled. You can quickly create a custom effect path with up to nine simultaneous effects, and with POD X3 Dual Tone processing, you can even run through two completely independent effects chains at the same time, to create totally original (and insane!) walls of sound. POD X3 Pro includes:

Stomp: Fuzz, Distortion, Overdrive and every flavor of delicious dirt.
Mod: Chorus, Flanger, Tremolo, Rotary, Phaser; some serious swoosh.
Delay: Multiple types of Analog, Digital, Tape and other echoes, echoes, echoes. . .
Reverb: Multiple types of Room, Hall, Chamber, Plate, Spring and more.
Beyond: Compressors, Gate, 4-Band Semi-Parametric EQ, Guitar Synth, Filters, Wah and the entire galaxy of otherworldly timbre tweakers.

Bass and Vocals

Think POD® is only geared towards guitarists? Think again: POD® X3 Pro might just be the ultimate secret weapon for bassists, singers and songwriters too. Bass players can combine any of the 28 badass bass amp and 22 bass cab models with any one of its killer high-end compressors and super-cool stompboxes. Better yet, why not use Dual Tone processing to run up to nine of those stompboxes and studio processors on each of your two simultaneous bass rigs . . . in stereo! Now that’s lowdown and dirty. .. .

Singers can run their studio microphone into the XLR input and take advantage of the warm and rich suite of mic preamp and compressor models provided by POD X3 Pro. Adding a touch of top-quality vintage spring or digital reverb will put that professional touch on all your best songs.

Perform live using POD X3 Dual Tone processing and turn your POD X3 Pro into both a vocal processor/preamp (via XLR input) and a guitar amp modeler/effector (via 1⁄4" input), and simply send a single stereo pair to the house as you sing and play your sensitive heart out!
